I did the 1.34 update to my 500 yesterday and so far I'm pretty happy with the update. But now I seem to have a bug that just appeared today while trying to load a map from NG TOPO 4.0.

I've loaded maps before the update but now when I try, it seems to be working, the status bar at the bottom of TOPO states "Compiling map" and seems to scroll thru the process, then it states "Transferring map" and scrolls thru that process.

That's when the problem appears, when it's finished the "Transferring map" process I get this dialog box:

Needless to say, there are no updates.

Like I said earlier, I was able to transfer maps prior to the update.

I'm running WinXP Pro which is up-to-date. I'm also running Grisoft AVG antivirus. I was thinking that maybe an update to the AVG might have started this.

I also do not have a PW for administrator on my computer, so I can't try that. I've never had an issue running or installing programs before as my main login has administrator rights.

Sorry for the lengthy first post, just wondered if anyone else has experienced anything like this.
Thanks,
MJBinNM

Try uploading a small region and see if that works. Make sure there are no other programs running at all, I even disconnect from the internet, disable any screen saver and stuff..

Try turning AVG off completely. This message appears because application cannot perform some operation, so it reasonably thinks that you don't have rights to perform it. Most probably AVG blocks some activity as suspicious.
You may also view AVG logs.

Tried all that...couldn't find anything in the AVG log. Is there any way to save TOPO maps to a format VP will recognize? VP still works.

Waiting now for AccuTerra...any ideas what that will be like?

See: http://www.magellangps.com/news/releases/viewRelease.asp?id=585

It sounds intersting...

Thanks for the replies

I was trying to load a map, and was watching the Triton folder under NG TOPO. As it complies and transfer maps, it creates several files that are deleted when complete, all except the .rmp file. I had NG lock-up when trying to load a map. and the temp files weren't deleted...well apparently TOPO doesn't like this. I renamed the files with a .1 after the extinsion (just in case) and then it worked. I got rid of the files, and it all works now...
I thought I'd post just in case someone else has this problem.

A few weeks ago I spoke with a rep from the folks who make AccuTerra, he told me that the software will show land use maps (which are particularly useful for hunting -- I don't hunt, so I have no idea), such as public use, federal, etc...

Unfortunately there's no website or literature on this yet. The guy gave me a contact at Magellan (not their support line), he told me this should be abailable in late April, but they don't have a price yet.

The error you are receiving concerning the need to "Run the Program as an Administrator" is one that is common to a VISTA OS system.

Magellan Tech Support recently released a Beta Version of an upgrade for Triton called Version 4.4.2.1 .. when finished it will be released from production as Version 4.4.3.

I found a link to the Beta Version on the Yahoo Group "man_tracking_university".

The Beta checked out on VISTA and the error message is eliminated. In addition, when you check the preferences under TOPO software .. the connection to the GPS for Triton is now reporting that it has made the connection.

I am using a 500 with VP 1.25 and FW 1.34.
