GPS: Triton 500
Hey, just bought a Triton 500 yesterday for a steal and haven't stopped playing with it since!!. I think I have all the basics down but I'm still very new at all this GPS stuff. I downloaded TOPO explorer and bought some superquads and that is the extent of my knowledge on maps. I'm going to be using my unit for Dirtbike/ATV trips and I live in Southern California.

MXStyle87,

Welcome to the forum and I'm glad to hear that we have another SCal. resident with us that is also into ATVing and dirt biking. I use my Tritons on my quad and dirtbike all the time while out looking for caches around Barstow, so if you're around the High Desert area I might be able to you get started with some home made maps that are better than the NG Topo Explorer maps.

Later,
David

I've only been riding in Barstow once but am definitely more confident in exploring the area now. Eventually, I want to make a San Diego to Vegas trip by the end of 2010. Ever done that or something similar.

If you ever want to come out to Barstow or Victorville and do some desert caching give me a shout. There is an awesome cacheing run in Lucerne Valley that is located on an abandoned 18 hole golf course where there are about 38 caches. As far as a San Diego to Vegas run, no, I've never done that. However, I did hit Calif, Ariz, New Mex, Texas, Okla. Kansas, Colorado, Utah, and Nev on a road trip last summer which was a blast!
