Free US Map - which State first?

I am planning to develop a series of free topo vector maps for the US.

Which State should I start on? (Hawaii is already done) Who needs a map of his US State first?

Please post your favorite here and I'll decide in a week with which Sate to start!

Sockeye,

The toughest state for us to do was ALASKA. This state will test anyone's skill set in creating vector TOPO maps.

Are you using OSM Data or are you doing them from scretch?

In the US there is very complete and precise data available from the government for free...not like in Germany, where the tax-payer has to pay double. Once with his taxes to pay the data collection and secondly when he wants to use it.

Alaska has following challenges:
- SRTM data is only available south of Anchorage
- Alaska is big. I'll need to split it because a high resolution DEM will be to large to process.
- Road data is very poor in quality

Agreed!! We also faced this challenge in creating our Alaska maps.

California of course! There are more of us and with Silicone Valley it's the technology capital of the world. :-)
