Get the free map(s) from the first post. I will continue to add to the list of park maps.

These maps are compiled using downloaded images from the Harper's Ferry Center - NPS Maps site.
They are open source, free to use with no restrictions on use.
There is no claim to accuracy and should only be used as a reference/guide for park ammenities and attractions.

Nice maps Morel...

I emailed the USNF service about re-distributing the NF maps I've made, but haven't received a reply yet.

No reply to my email about the scanned maps, but the GeoTiff maps available here:
http://svinetfc4.fs.fed.us/visitormaps/
seem to be "Open Source". From what I could find, they seem to fall under the same useage laws as the USGS data (I would think the scanned maps would fall under the same regs, but I have no confirmation of that).

This is what I found by clicking around the site:
"Information presented on the Forest Service website is considered public information and may be distributed or copied. Use of appropriate byline/photo/image credits is requested."

The tif files are in NAD83, once reprojected to WGS84, they only require 2 points in RMP maker to calibrate and they are very accurate.

They aren't very detailed for hiking, but they are good for driving and OHV use as a companion to the printed version.

Here's a shot from the Gunnison NF GeoTiff overlaid on the AccuTerra Rocky Mountain map. It views on the Triton form 1mi to 1/4mi zoom.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

What's involved in re-projecting to WGS84?

Thanks for these maps. You have saved me some time from doing it myself, especially that Arches NP that I plan on visiting in September.

I wait for the day I have the time and $ to visit all these parks. They're on my "bucket list".

I finally got back to this with some changes to improve accuracy. I still have some tweaking for sharpness and viewing on the Triton but will slowly be replacing the files from the first post here. Any replaced will be in RED. This is a new one: Ozark National Scenic Riverways(Currrent River)

Hi Morel,

you forgot to add the .rmp of the filename in your link above.

Can I add your files in my freemap section of Maps4me.net?

I don't know why, but some maps can't be downloaded. If you click open in a new window, the bin-code is displayed as a textfile. If I click on "save as", they are saved as HTML...

( Ozark National Scenic Riverways
Zion NP
Bryce Canyon NP
Arches NP
Canyonlands NP
Capitol Reef NP
Cuyahoga Valley NP
Mesa Verde NP)

I downloaded Cuyahoga Valley NP and it works perfectly. Just up the road from me.

Thanks Morel
