You can use the full version of GPSMapedit, display the Google images as background and vectotize manually. But this is a huge manual effort.

If you want satellite image maps, you can use

Mobile Atlas Creator: http://mobac.dnsalias.org/

or Triton RMP Maker: http://www.msh-tools.com/triton.html

Dear MJBinNM, I have used both of above software. As far as i know both of them does not support .imi files. I can create .rmp files easily with Mobile Atlas creator, from Google earth. But i needs to develop details map from google maps. I can use .rmp file type but when i create it from google earth the quality of text is very poor. It's hardly readable even combine with several zoom levels. so i try to create .imi file so that text are easily readable at any zoom level.

Please let me know what are the file types other than .rmp and .imi which are supported by Triton 2000 for detail maps.

Give up...

It is very important for this topic to understand the difference of a RMP and a IMI map.

RMP are picures displayed on the GPS Unit, while IMI maps consist of vectors. E.g. a line is defined by two points and the unit draws the line between these.

It is like typing a text in MS Word. You can change the size orientation or what ever you want. (vector) On other hand the RMP is like a photo of a letter you took with your camera and included in MS Word.
