I finally got to a point where I wanted to make my own map for the triton. So I scanned a paper map, calibrated it in Ozi and all seems OK. When I try to read the Ozi map file with TritonRMP, however, I get an error: "Canot convert to float".

What am I doing wrong?

I suspect it has to do with the calibration points.

Here are some sample lines for calibration points from the Ozi files (lines wrapped by forum software):

Point01,xy, 0, 0,in, deg, , ,N, , ,W, grid, 11,625427.45706388,3434104.5080157,N
Point02,xy, 4500, 3479,in, deg, , ,N, , ,W, grid, 11,666942.61469369,3399037.6673341,N

from another file:
Point01,xy, 1676, 1004,in, deg, 30,58.99398,N, 115,24.49998,W, grid, , , ,N
Point02,xy, 2193, 1512,in, deg, 30, 58.281,N, 115, 23.6808,W, grid, , , ,N
Point03,xy, 2905, 608,in, deg, 30, 59.5614,N, 115, 22.506,W, grid, , , ,N

You get the "canot convert to float" error in TritonRMP creator if your West longitude is 100 degrees or greater.

I am not aware of any fix to this yet.

Thanks! Would have taken me some time to figure that out #-o

The way I got around it was by just copying the point info from the .map file to TritonRMP manually.

Otherwise I'm quite pleased with the ease of use and impressed by my new little map

Had the same problem
when you open rmp maker and open map select and the choices "GBA map files or the "OZI map files (WGS8 only)" !!!! Couldn't find any documentation on a WGS8 so I e-mailled Des at OziExplorer asking him what is a "OZI map files (WGS8 only)" and he said doesn't exist.....maybe if they fixed that...lol
