Is there any chance to develop a kind of "total Triton mod" for the X00 Tritons? Anything that enables more usability? Or is the touchscreen the limit?

I'm asking, because I havn't heared about firmware updates or testing about it for a long time.

1. Basically it should be possible.
2. MortScript should run.
3. Graphical Menu (SystemInformation.exe) can only be used with touch screens.
4. The started executable isn't called ToCopy.exe but AutorunCE.exe or something like that (Inkognito has posted the correct file name on magellanboard.de some time ago)

SO:
It would be possible to do a text based menu which can be controlled by the buttons like I did in the beginning of Triton modding - see 2nd picture here: http://www.tritonforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=1602

BUT:
What applications do you want to run without a touchscreen?
Nav N Go can only be used with touchscreen
OziExplorerCE would have a very limited functional range

Greetings, Peter

BTW: I don't have an X00 and I wouldn't buy one either. Today I wouldn't even buy my 2000 anymore. I think the future are apps for mobile phones because we always carry them with us. Does it survive even it isn't rugged? - Yes, at least mine does - since years. Even in our army (I'm from Austria) they use mobile phone flatrates for communication instead of the old radio equipment provided by the army.

As for me, the most useful application would be a program for capturing data from receiver and writing it to gpx file, in background mode, something like a similar option in the Garmin devices.

well Magellan Rodmate goes iPhone...
But I personally need a rugged device. I killed enough phones and cameras while fishing in salt water...
